Know Your BMI
A quick check-in on your body mass index, using WHO Asia-Pacific cutoffs calibrated for Indian and Asian body composition.
How This Calculator Works
Body Mass Index (BMI) is calculated as weight in kilograms divided by height in metres squared: BMI = weight (kg) ÷ height (m)². It is a simple screening measure, not a diagnosis — it doesn't account for muscle mass, bone density, or body fat distribution directly.
This calculator uses the WHO Asia-Pacific BMI classification rather than the global WHO chart. Research shows South and East Asian populations carry higher health risk at a lower BMI than Western populations, so the World Health Organization recommends lower cutoffs for Asia-Pacific populations: Normal up to 22.9, Overweight from 23, Obese from 25 — compared to 24.9 / 25 / 30 on the global chart.
For general wellness reference only — not a medical diagnosis. Consult a healthcare professional for a full body composition assessment.
